ITIL Strategy (Version 5) Course

ITIL Strategy (Version 5) is about setting direction and deciding where to invest when things keep changing. It teaches you how to build a strategy, put it into practice, and keep adjusting it as circumstances shift, rather than writing a plan that is out of date within a quarter.

It is one of the two modules in the ITIL Strategic Leader (Version 5) path, together with ITIL Transformation. To take it you need any ITIL 4 certification or ITIL Foundation (Version 5).

What the course covers:

The ITIL Strategy Management Model
How a strategy is developed, and separately, how it actually gets implemented
How to keep technology spending aligned with what the business is trying to achieve
Governance, talent, trust, and how investment decisions get made and defended
Getting ready for fast change and new technology, including AI

It is written for leaders who set strategy, but also for the people one and two levels down who have to make it work in practice.

Objectives

Following the completion of the course participants should be able to:

Explain the key ITIL terms used in experience management
Understand how experience is shaped across the ITIL Four Dimensions of Product and Service Management
Capture experience and judge whether the evidence you have is trustworthy
Map and improve the service journey
Run continual experience improvement using the ITIL Continual Improvement Model
Explain how AI affects trust and perception, and the role of AI governance and digital ethics
Explain how ITIL sits alongside other frameworks you already use and pass the ITIL Experience (Version 5) exam.

This course is designed for:

Leaders with strategic responsibility, at any level of the organisation
Professionals responsible for implementing strategy
Professionals whose day-to-day work supports strategic objectives

The ITIL Strategy Exam

The ITIL Service (Version 5) exam is 40 multiple-choice questions in 90 minutes. It is open book, and you need 70% to pass.

Duration: 90 minutes
Questions: 40
Format: multiple choice
Pass mark: 70%, which means 28 correct answers out of 40
Conditions: open book

Upon successful completion of the exam and following confirmation of the results, the participants will receive a unique, secure and auditable electronic certificate from PeopleCert.

Prerequisites

It is desirable, but not essential, that participants have some experience in IT service management.

Participants need to hold any ITIL 4 certification, or the ITIL Foundation (Version 5) certification
