ITIL Product (Version 5) Course

ITIL Product (Version 5) teaches you how to manage a digital product across its whole life: from spotting the need, through design and build, to running it and improving it. The aim is products that keep delivering value, not just products that ship.

It is one of the four modules in the ITIL Managing Professional (Version 5) path, alongside ITIL Service, ITIL Experience and ITIL Transformation. To take it you need any ITIL 4 certification or ITIL Foundation (Version 5).

What the course covers:

The eight stages of the ITIL Product and Service Lifecycle: Discover, Design, Acquire, Build, Transition,
Operate, Deliver and Support
How to bring product management and service management together, instead of running them as two separate worlds
How to connect what your product team builds to what the business is actually trying to achieve
How ITIL applies across business analysis, product design, development, testing, release and continual improvement

It is aimed at the people who build and own digital products, and at the service, architecture and development teams who work alongside them.

Objectives

Following the completion of the course participants should be able to:

Explain what digital products and services are, in ITIL terms
Work through the eight stages of the ITIL Product and Service Lifecycle
Manage a digital product from first idea through to retirement
Apply ITIL across business analysis, design, development, testing, release and continual improvement
Show how product work connects to business value
Explain how ITIL sits alongside other frameworks you already use and pass the ITIL Product (Version 5) exam.

The ITIL Product Exam

The ITIL Product (Version 5) exam is 40 multiple-choice questions in 90 minutes. It is open book, and you need 70% to pass.

Questions: 40
Format: multiple choice
Pass mark: 70%, which means 28 correct answers out of 40
Conditions: open book

Upon successful completion of the exam and following confirmation of the results, the participants will receive a unique, secure and auditable electronic certificate from PeopleCert.

Prerequisites

It is desirable, but not essential, that participants have some experience in IT service management.

Participants need to hold any ITIL 4 certification, or the ITIL Foundation (Version 5) certification
